How can the government and embassy help an employee stranded abroad over unpaid salary?

Employee salary dues unpaid by the employer

An Indian employee in a Middle Eastern country faced non-payment of salary dues and had his passport retained by the employer, leaving him stranded and unable to return to India. The government intervened, and Indian public authorities, the local embassy, and the company were involved. After diplomatic and legal negotiations, his dues were released, and he was safely repatriated to India with the embassy's support.

If the employee had encountered misconduct by government personnel during this process, he could have filed a complaint against public authorities or raised grievances of public authorities. In such cases, individuals are encouraged to file an Indian public authorities complaint for quick resolution. The Directorate of Public Grievances would also be instrumental in strengthening the machinery for redressal of public grievance.

Additionally, if the employee felt that the process was opaque, he could have filed RTI matters to gain transparency into the actions taken by the authorities involved.
