How can the government help an NRI woman abandoned abroad?

NRI woman abandoned abroad by husband

An NRI woman was abandoned by her husband in a foreign country without any financial support or documents. Her parents in India complained with Indian public authorities regarding the grievances of public authorities in addressing such cases. They reached out to the Government of India for support. On intervention by the government, Indian public authorities complaint ensured she was brought to a safe place in her country of residence in the UK, provided the required support, and further brought back to India safely.

If there had been any misconduct by government personnel during this process, the parents could have filed complaints against govt employees or raised further grievances of public authorities. The Directorate of Public Grievances plays a key role in strengthening the machinery for redressal of public grievance in such matters.

Additionally, if they had concerns about the transparency of the process, they could have filed RTI matters to seek clarity on the steps taken by the authorities involved.
