Step-by-Step Infographic Guide

  1. Access the Income Tax Portal
    ➡ Visit the Income Tax e-Filing website.
    ➡ Log in or register if you’re a new user.

  2. Register as a Legal Heir
    ➡ Go to My Account > Select Add/Register as Representative.
    ➡ Choose Deceased’s Estate from the dropdown menu.

  3. Provide Details of the Deceased
    ➡ Submit:

    • PAN of the deceased.
    • Name of the estate.
    • Date of incorporation of the deceased.
  4. Prepare and Upload Documents
    ➡ ZIP file requirements:

    • Legal heir certificate or affidavit (notarized).
    • Deceased’s PAN card.
    • Death certificate.
    • Legal heir’s PAN card.
  5. Submit the Request
    ➡ Upload the ZIP file.
    ➡ Click Submit to send for approval.
