Portfolio Investment Scheme (PIS) Account: Enabling NRIs to Invest in Indian Capital Markets

A Portfolio Investment Scheme (PIS) account allows Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) to buy and sell shares and convertible debentures of Indian companies. The RBI introduced PIS to help NRIs invest in Indian stock market and participate in India's capital markets.

Through PIS, NRIs can also invest in mutual funds, including options like mutual funds India and mutual fund investment by NRI. It offers access to equities, debentures, and more.

For a diversified portfolio, NRIs may explore alternate investment fund (AIF) and alternative mutual funds, which provide tax-efficient opportunities. PIS also allows NRIs to combine FD in India for NRI for stable returns, benefiting from NRI fixed deposit rates in India.
