Yes, registering an NRI rental agreement is essential in India, especially for rental periods exceeding 11 months. For agreements under 11 months, registration is not legally mandatory, but for longer leases, it's required for the agreement to be legally binding. NRIs can also opt for an online rent agreement for NRI or an eSign rental agreement for convenience, especially if the owner is abroad. Agreement to sell using POA can also be considered for NRI property transactions.
